Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A hearing for a lawsuit against Governor Ralph Northam's plans to remove the Lee Monument has been cancelled this afternoon, after the plantiffs in this case filed plans to drop the suit. This now leaves only one lawsuit being filed against the removal.
Northam announced plans to remove the Lee Monument in early June. It is the only monument remaining on Monument Avenue, as an injunction has been put in place against its removal. Lee is also the only monument that falls under Commonwealth, rather than Richmond, control.
A hearing in the other lawsuit is scheduled for next Friday.
