(RICHMOND, Va.) --
CHESTERFIELD
No major problems reported in precincts in Chesterfield or Henrico counties during Super Tuesday primary voting.
Chesterfield County reported around mid-morning that they had 7% turnout, which is just under 17,000 voters. County registrar Constance Hargrove says that they are ahead of where they were four years ago during the 2016 presidential primary.
During the 2016 primary, Chesterfield recored over 33,000 voters and they were already halfway to that number as of 10 this morning.
Hargrove says they expect a bit of a rush late this afternoon into this evening as people get off work. There have been no issues at the polls, just people complaining that candidates who have dropped out of the race are still on the ballot.
HENRICO
As of early Tuesday afternoon in Henrico County, their turnout stands at 14%, but that's far behind where they were in 2016. Henrico registrar Mark Coakley says that they were at 40% during turnout during that primary.
He doubts that number can be reached and doesn't expect a huge rush in the late afternoon or evening since schools are out today and people are coming in steady all day.
There have been no technical issues in Henrico, just people complaining about the number of people on the ballot--especially those who have dropped out. Coakley says those candidates have not officially suspended their campaigns in Virginia.
