Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Ralph Northam says, provided the Food and Drug Administration provides emergency use authorization, Virginia should have 70,000 doses of the vaccine by the middle of the month. The shots are going first to health care workers and long-term care residents.
However, that group alone has roughly 500,000 people. State Epidimiologist Lilian Peake says they are working out the priority list right now, and should have answers by the end of the week.
The Governor sidestepped a question over what restrictions might be instituted if Virginia's case load, positivity rate, hospitalizations, and other health metrics do not improve. Northam only said "all options are on the table."
