Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Virginia Department of Health is blaming reporting lags for its own dashboard showing only 20% of Covid vaccines having been administered. Director of Immunizations Christy Gray says the actual number is likely much higher.
Gray says administering 54,000 shots in this short a time is actually impressive. Virginia is currently giving vaccine shots to frontline healthcare workers and nursing home residents.
Just Tuesday, President-elect Joe Biden criticized the slow pace of vaccination. Biden said it would take years to vaccinate the country at this pace. He promised a "ramp-up" once he's in office in January.
