Several mainstream media outlets changed the headlines on their stories on Thursday after reporting that Democrats had blocked Republican-led efforts to provide more relief to small businesses during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the Washington Examiner, CNN, NBC News, Politico, and the New York Times, all changed the headlines of their initial stories to shift blame away from Democrats for blocking the proposed $250 billion relief package. CBNC, on the other hand, kept its headline, which read "Senate adjourns until Monday after Democrats block McConnell's bid to add $250 billion in small business aid."
The Daily Caller also noted that CNN's headline was changed "within an hour to be less critical" of Democrats. The original headline said, "Democrats block GOP-led funding boost for small business aid program," but was quickly changed to "Senate at stalemate over more COVID-19 aid after Republicans and Democrats block competing proposals."
