The mother of a six-year-old with Down syndrome is upset with her daughter’s school district after the police were called when the girl pointed a "finger gun" at her teacher.
CBS3 Philadelphia reports that six-year-old Margot Gaines, a student at Valley Forge (Pennsylvania) Elementary School, became frustrated during the November incident and pretended to shoot her teacher with her finger. An act that sparked what the Tredyffrin-Easttown School District is calling a threat assessment.
Maggie Gaines claims Margot's gesture was simply an expression of anger, but the school district says its policy on "threats" such as that is to call the police. Gaines is upset because her daughter now has a police report on file.
