It was late in the afternoon Friday February 1st when a blogger began spreading word about a racist photo on the Medical School Yearbook page of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, and as word spread and outrage grew, along with calls for Northam's resignation WRVA went into round-the-clock programming late into the evening getting feedback from experts as well as listeners.
The following day, as WRVA hosted a round-table discussion amid expectatioins of an imminent resignation, protestors descended on the state capitol to demand that Northam step down and allow Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax, an African American, to take over the governorship.
WRVA News followed each breaking development as Northam first apologized for, then the next day denied he was in the photo, covering protests and airing live coverage of the Governor's statements, along with input from protesters, political experts, local and state politicians, as well as listeners.
