Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -- One week before Richmond City employees are required to show proof of vaccination, or have an exemption, Richmond City Mayor Levar Stoney says 75% of the staff is at least partially vaccinated. The number compares favorably to the city as a whole, which is 51% fully vaccinated.

Employees have to show proof by September 1st. Stoney says the numbers also show that of the 75%, 67% are fully vaccinated, and 10% have applied for an exemption. Richmond was the first locality to mandate vaccines for its employees.

Staff failing to get into the process of getting vaccinated, or getting an exemption, by September 1 will be placed on leave without pay. Continued failure could lead to termination.
