Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - With frigid temperatures on the way, AAA is asking that drivers double-check their cars and prepare for colder temperatures. With people driving less over 2020 and 2021, they warn that car battery lives may have been shortened. Now, as temperatures drop, drivers should double-check their batteries to make sure they're in good condition. Drivers should also top off their tires, since tire pressure drops about 1-2 psi for every 10 degrees, and check their treads.

Additionally, drivers should make sure to have a winter emergency kit packed in their vehicles, especially if they're traveling for the holidays. Items for an emergency kit can include ice scrapers, abrasive materials, a shovel, a flashlight & batteries, flares, jumper cables, phone chargers, spare food, and water
