Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Covid-19 cases are rising in Europe and Asia, and while cases are at a low point here in Virginia, a UVA professor thinks it is possible we may see a bump up year. Bryan Lewis, a professor with the Bio-Complexity Institute at UVA, says that bump could come in the next month or two.

Lewis says there is a period of uncertainty with Covid right now. That being said, cases could rise, although he does not think it would be on the levels seen with the peaks of the Delta and Omicron variants. Lewis says that is because you need a lot of transmission for that to happen, and there is a lot of immunity in the population right now, either natural immunity or from vaccines.

Lewis says we will eventually reach an endemic status, with regular peaks and valleys. However, he says that could take a few years. However, he does not anticipate this or future years being as bad as the last two.
