Charlottesville, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Charlottesville Police say they have arrested James Allen, the suspect in the attempted abduction of a female UVA student, Thursday in Louisa County. The woman is in stable condition. Allen faces charges of abduction and strangulation.
Police say Thursday evening, they were called for what they termed a "disorder" along Cabell Avenue. There they were told by a woman that a man she did not know tried to abduct her. They also discovered that several vehicles and trees had been struck by a car.
The abduction brings reminders of the killings of Morgan Harrington (2009) and Hannah Graham (2014) in Charlottesville. Harrington was a Virginia Tech student visiting Charlottesville, and Graham was a UVA student. Jesse Matthew is serving multiple life terms for both killings. Current UVA police Chief Tim Longo was Charlottesville Police Chief during both cases.
