Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - In a press conference at 10 a.m. on Friday, Richmond Mayor Danny Avula and city officials said water testing is underway but the boil water advisory is still in effect.
The first water samples from all nine zones in Richmond have been collected, and the second round of testing is taking place today, Avula said.
Two consecutive rounds of negative tests are needed before the boil water advisory can be lifted.
Officials say the goal is to lift the boil water advisory in the city of Richmond sometime in the morning on Saturday, depending on the test results. Henrico hopes to lift its boil water advisory Saturday as well.
The boil water advisory remains in effect for Richmond, Henrico County, Goochland County, and eastern Hanover County.
Bottled water distribution sites are still located around Richmond. Henrico will close its water pickup locations at 8 p.m. on Friday.
