Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Charges against a man, accused in an attack on a woman in Shockoe Bottom in March, have been dismissed. According to court records, the charges against Ladell Holmes were dismissed May 5th. CBS6 reports the Commonwealth does not believe Holmes did the attack.

Richmond Police named Holmes as their suspect back in April, and arrested him just a few days later. They cited video evidence as one of the reasons for naming Holmes. He had been charged with malicious wounding and strangulation.

CBS6 says Holmes' sister says he is homeless and has some mental illness issues.
