Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -- Governor Glenn Youngkin's choice for Elections Commissioner, who is already facing opposition because of her ties to State Senator Amanda Chase (R-Chesterfield), is also facing opposition from an unlikely spot: Chase herself. Susan Beals was named to the post by Youngkin Friday, replacing Chris Piper, who was not reappointed.
In a text to WRVA, Chase says Beals denies what Chase believes are election irregularities, and calls it "a travesty." She also calls Beals appointment "a devastating blow to the grassroots movement in Virginia to seek a full forensic audit." Chase has challenged the 2020 election results for a year and a half, even though an audit found no errors.
Democrats are raising concerns about Beals because she once served as Chase's legislative aide.
