Chesterfield County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Chesterfield County residents will soon be able to drop off recyclable materials at new recycling centers inside area parks. The centers will open Friday, September 22.

The new community recycling centers will be located at the following parks: Harry G. Daniel Park at Ironbridge Rd, R. Garland Dodd Park at Point of Rocks, Ettrick Park, Goyne Park, Irvin G. Horner Park, Huguenot Park, and Rockwood Park. The centers will be open when parks are open, dawn to dusk.

Since they are single-stream containers, people won't need to separate materials. Staff at a privately-owned material recovery facility will process all recyclables that go into the containers.

“I am excited about the opening of the seven Community Recycling Centers in the county,” said Director of General Services John Neal. “This is a great opportunity to provide our community with additional recycling options. The centers are another tool to help with keeping recyclable materials out of the landfills.”

In addition to the seven new recycling centers, county residents can utilize the northern and southern convenience centers or get their recycling picked up by a third-party vendor. The primary vendors offering pickup services are Waste Management, Choice, GFL and TFC Recycling.
