Chesterfield, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Chesterfield School District admits there have been bus delays on the county's first partial day of school. The district announced over a week ago that it was short nearly 100 drivers. Chesterfield this year became the first metro school district to move to a pre-Labor Day calendar, and today was the first day of school for most Elementary kids, and older children in new buildings.
The system is expected to face further stress tomorrow when almost all of the additional students, minus some kindergarten students, return to school. The district has asked as many parents as possible to please drive their kids.
Henrico, Richmond, and Hanover are all starting school post-Labor Day this year.
