Chesterfield, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - In a narrow, 3-2 vote, the Chesterfield School Board voted to make masks optional, starting on Thursday. The vote came after the district had received guidance from the Youngkin Administration on how to proceed with a mask-optional plan.
Chesterfield now becomes the second metro district to chose optional masks, following Hanover's vote Monday. Henrico and Richmond are both choosing to keep their universal mask policies.
Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) signed an executive order requiring parents get an "opt out" on masks on his inauguration day. The order is now being challenged in two separate lawsuits.
Will Start Thursday
