Chesterfield County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -- Though the county has 67 total K-12 schools, Bellwood and Falling Creek Elementary are, for now, the only schools in Chesterfield who have class year-round. However, superintendent Merv Daugherty says they're using information from these two to see if the schedule might work well for other schools.
For all the logistical challenges a year-round schedule presents, Daugherty says it provides some major academic benefits. There are no concrete plans to expand the year-round schedule right now.
Even for students who don't go to Falling Creek or Bellwood, though, he says year-round education is available through the county's summer school programs.
