Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The City of Richmond has launched a fund to help support Richmonders who were hit hard economically by the water crisis.

Applications for assistance for the “Water Crisis Fund” will be accepted starting Friday. The funds will be available to residents who can prove their need tied to the water crisis.

Funds will go directly to where they are owed and can include household expenses, basic needs, rent and mortgage payments, utilities, childcare, and more.

"Many of our friends, family, and neighbors were impacted by the winter storm and subsequent water outage in January," officials said. "The outpouring of volunteers, first responders, and everyday individuals was inspiring to behold as water was distributed to those in need."

Those who are able are urged to donate to the fund.
