Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Efforts to bring a Washington Commanders stadium to Virginia are dead, at least for this year. Senate Majority Leader Dick Saslaw says he's pulling his bill because there are too many issues and controversies to resolve. The decision also comes a day after news broke that Commanders Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio referred to the January 6th Insurrection as a "dust-up."

The decision lead Delegate Marcus Simon (D-Fairfax), one of the House's top Democrats, to tweet this:

The stadium efforts were also supported by House Appropriations Chair Delegate Barry Knight (R-Virginia Beach). The team says it supports the decision.

Along with the Del Rio controversy, the Commanders have also faced harassment and financial allegations.
