Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Police say the damage done by vandals at Hollywood Cemetery this weekend is more than $200,000. Chief Gerald Smith also says there were no cameras in the area around President's Circle where the damage took place, and they need people to come forward.
Smith, liken Mayor Levar Stoney, decried the vandalism, and said police resources should not have to be needed to monitor a cemetery. The damage occurred in the area near where Presidents James Monroe and John Tyler are buried, but neither grave was disturbed. Smith also says no Confederate graves were disturbed either.
Smith says felony charges are likely if the vandals are caught.
