Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The hottest days of the year so far are expected to occur this week.
Forecasted high temperatures are in the mid and upper 90s for the next several days, but the heat index and humidity will make temperatures feel more like they are in the triple digits. Meteorologists expect to issue heat advisories on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
"Take frequent breaks if you have to work outside through the early part of the weekend, hang out in the shade, have your AC on," says Rachel Meyers, NBC12 meteorologist. "Stay hydrated and take it easy over the next several days."
Scattered afternoon showers are possible on Saturday. These showers will provide some areas with a break from the heat. On Sunday, a cold front will bring temperatures back down into the upper 80s, which is closer to average for this time of year.
