Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin's (R) rewrite of the Transgender Model Policy for Schools now will not go into effect until November 26th at the earliest. The Youngkin Administration had said it was going to be effective as soon as the comment period ended.

The Department of Education cited the Administrative Process Act for the delay. The act requires that if any comment argues the policy is against state law that an additional 30 days be taken to provide a response. There were over 71,000 comments on the policy.

Youngkin rewrote the policy in September, saying the Northam Administration was trying for societal change. The rewrite requires teachers use pronouns that match the official record, and the kids only play on sports team matching their sex.
