Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin's (R) embattled choice for Natural Resources Secretary made an appearance in front of the Senate Agriculture Committee on Tuesday. Andrew Wheeler, who once served as President Donald Trump's EPA Chief, faces opposition from both Democrats and environmentalists.
Environmentalists oppose Wheeler for his rollback of some greenhouse gas emission regulations under Trump. Wheeler was asked about why he could not influence Trump on climate change, and Wheeler responded that the issue was dealt with prior to his time with the agency.
Wheeler also blamed some of his opposition on media coverage, alleging national media refused to cover positive news while he was head of the EPA.
