Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - AAA is once again stressing Virginia's "move over" law, holding an event Tuesday at the I-64 West rest stop in Goochland. They also made available Deputy Brad Hughes, a member of the Powhatan Sheriff's Department, who lost both his legs in a traffic accident in Chesterfield in 2014.

Hughes was working for a separate department at the time. He says a car looking at an accident in another lane did not see an accident in front of him, and crashed into Hughes. Hughes says he had to be resuscitated three times, and lost the legs above the knee.

Hughes says he now tells the story of his accident to convince people to move over when they see cars on the side of the road. He says reliving the accident actually "fuels" him. Hughes does say since the law has been in effect, he has seen more people using it, and avoiding potentially dangerous situations.
