Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Former Parole Board Chair Adrianne Bennett could have face multiple charges for allegedly falsifying discharge records for three convicted murderers, says Attorney General Jason Miyares.
Miyares, a Republican, blames the statute of limitations for not being able to pursue them. Bennett was an an appointee of former Governor Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat, who lost a re-election attempt to current Governor Ralph Northam (R).

Miyares released a highly critical report into Bennett and the previous pParole Board. Youngkin replaced the Board after taking office. Bennett is currently a judge in Virginia Beach, but on suspension, and Miyares says he will leave it up to the General Assembly as to whether she should be impeached.

The Parole Board came under scrutiny for releases that took place in March 2020, at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. The most prominent was Vincent Martin, who had been convicted of killing Richmond Police Officer Michael Connors in the 1970s. Supporters of Martin had argued that he had been a good prisoner behind bars, and that those convicted with him had served far less time. However, Miyares says there was large opposition to his release that should have been taken into account.
