Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - AAA Mid-Atlantic says average gas prices went up a full dime last week, both statewide and in Richmond. The Virginia average is $3.20 a gallon, and the Richmond average is $3.18.
AAA Spokesman Morgan Dean says crude oil prices are predominately to blame for the jump. Crude is currently costing around $83 a barrel. In August, the price was around $60.
Dean does not expect the price to drop into the holidays. He says heating oil will have an impact in keeping the price high. Virginians are now spending $17 more to fill up per visit then they did last year.
Both Statewide and in Richmond
