Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Virginia General Assembly returns Wednesday to finally approve the state budget amendments. Normally, this would be handled in February. However, disagreements over tax cuts, as well as delays created by the June primaries, left it until September.
Provided there are no surprises, the budget amendments will provide for a sales tax holiday. The lack of an agreement, plus a sunset provision, lead Virginians to miss the annual holiday this August. Instead, it is expected there will be a holiday instead October 20-22.
The agreement also provides for tax rebates. Those should be out to Virginians by November 30th. The rebates are $200 for individuals and $400 for couples.
