Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - It won't be a return to the graduations seen pre-Covid, but college and high school seniors this year can expect graduation ceremonies this spring and early summer. Governor Ralph Northam (D) revealing preliminary graduation guidelines today that would allow up to 5,000 people for an outdoor event.

The guidelines call for crowds of up to 5,000, or 30% of capacity, whichever is lower, for an outdoor graudation, and 500 or 30% for an indoor event. Northam says masks and social distancing will still be required. The guidelines are expected to be part of an upcoming executive order, but are being announced now to allow schools to plan.

Last year, seniors either had virtual events, or had small events featuring individual students, close family, and administrators.
