Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Following the urging of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association, Governor Glenn Youngkin has extended a limited executive order on Covid-19. The order gives greater flexibility to hospitals to confront the Omicron surge.

The Governor's original order was set to expire today. An aide to Governor Youngkin says there was no gap in flexibility for the hospitals. In addition to increasing capacity, the original order also waived some regulations.

Former Governor Ralph Northam declared a limited emergency in the final days of his administration doing similar things as well.
