Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin expressed his excitement about his upcoming trip to Taiwan, and for the economic benefits he hopes to negotiate there.

In these meetings, he will meet with officials from Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea, all of which are already major markets for Virginia agricultural exports.

Youngkin hopes to expand these economic partnerships despite the rising military tensions between Taiwan and mainland China, who claims the island as their own. After three days of combat exercises just outside of Taiwan (practicing sealing off the relatively-small island), the Chinese military declared itself "ready to fight." They conducted similar such exercises last August after Nancy Pelosi's diplomatic visit.

Despite this, Youngkin says he remains excited for the trip.
