Hanover County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - This Thursday, Hanover County Fire and EMS will cut the ribbon on its new state-of-the-art Class B Fire Burn Building.
The building will utilize propane to create fires, rather than straw and pellet as was previously used. Capt. Caleb Wilson says this will sharply reduce the number of carcinogens produced, making it safer for those that Hanover Fire and EMS trains.
"For us, it's a significant upgrade," Wilson says. "It allows us to not just perform fire ground training, but also technical rescue training. We have elevated anchor props and elevated training props that we have never had before in our jurisdiction."
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 12 at 10:30 a.m. At the event, the Department will also unveil memorials for fallen Hanover firefighters Bradford T. Clark and Henri G. Moore Jr.
"Lieutenant Clark passed away in 2018 on I-295, and Assistant Chief Henri Moore passed away from occupational cancer," Wilson says.
