Hanover County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - After initially dismissing the idea of “learning cottages,” the Hanover School Board has agreed to purchase the portable classrooms in an effort to address overcrowding at Cool Spring Elementary.
Currently, the school is at 104% capacity with no room to add additional class space.
Other solutions include boundary adjustments and reconstructing schools like Washington Henry Elementary, which is set to reopen in 2026. The issue of overcrowding county-wide will be discussed in March.
“Something has to be done by August, that’s just a statement of fact,” said school board chair Bob May.
