Hanover, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Hanover School District has announced, on its website, that it wil now be requiring masks to start the school year. The reversal follows the Northam Administration's Public Health Order requiring them in schools state-wide.
Hanover had been the most prominent district, and only metro district, to not mandate masks. Hanover's School Board voted in a split decision earlier in the week to make masks optional, following a contentious public meeting. The order supercedes the Hanover vote.
Masks will now be required in Hanover, and all other districts, until the CDC guidance on masks in schools changes.
