Henrico, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Henrico Police Department says it's currently investigating multiple hoax calls to Henrico area schools. Police say several Henrico public schools received hoax calls between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11.

The calls came to school employees at Douglas S. Freeman High School, Deep Run High School, and Mills E. Godwin High School. Additional police will be on site today at these schools. At this time, all schools have been deemed safe.

While the origin of the call is still under investigation, police say a preliminary investigation shows this type of hoax call is being made to other schools nationwide. Henrico police say they're investigating the phone number used during the original call.

"Henrico Police is taking these threats seriously and we will continue to investigate the origin of these phone calls," the Department said in a statement. "The Division is working with area partners as part of this ongoing investigation."
