Henrico County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Henrico County says that the county's new Sports & Events Center is still on track to open in October 2023.
The event center is already booked for 40 weekends of 2024, according to Dennis Bickmeier, head of Henrico's Sports and Entertainment Authority, including the NCAA Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship, FutsalRVA, Richard Bland College, and Richmond Volleyball Club. The Center is also set to be the new home for Henrico County high school graduations beginning in 2024.
In addition to the event center itself, the whole area around it -- the former site of Virginia Center Commons -- is being developed, with construction already underway on hotels, apartment buildings, and restaurants.
