Henrico County, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - Police issued a summons to Varina District Supervisor Tyrone Nelson after an incident Friday morning with a cyclist on Osborne Turnpike.

Henrico Police say the preliminary investigation suggests that Nelson failed to give a three-foot distance when trying to pass the cyclist and struck her as both were traveling north on the road. The incident occurred around 11:45 Friday morning. Henrico Police added in an email that the cyclist was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Nelson was issued a summons for failing to move over and is cooperating with the investigation.

The incident occurred in the 6500 block of Osborne Turnpike, not far from last August's incident where a driver struck and killed a bicyclist and critically injured another.
