Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - AAA Mid-Atlantic says holiday travel this Christmas and New Year's will be up 32% in Virginia. The number works out to just shy of three million Virginians. While the percentage seems high, Christmas 2020 was in the middle of a peak in the Covid-19 pandemic.

AAA Spokesperson Morgan Dean is recommending people be patient during their travels. Train stations and airports still have mask requirements. Also, Dean says 91% of people will be traveling by car, so roads can expect to be busy as well.

Nationally, 109 million people are expected to travel.
