Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Ahead of worsening weather conditions, Dominion Energy is offering tips on preparing for the impact of heavy rains and high winds.
During the storm, Dominion recommends doing the following:
• Keep mobile devices fully charged. In the event of an outage, a mobile phone will be needed to contact emergency services and/or receive outage updates.
• Report outages quickly. If there is an outage, Dominion recommends keeping freezers and refrigerator doors closed for as long as possible to preserve the food inside. You can track your outage as crews work to restore power. .
• Stay away from downed power lines. Downed power lines could still be active.
• Stay indoors. Dominion says staying inside is the safest thing to do as there could be flooding risks.
• Turn around, don’t drown. If you must drive during stormy weather, it’s better to turn around than attempt to continue through high water levels.
