Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - It's race week this week in Richmond, despite it being early August. This is the earliest "fall" race week in Richmond Raceway's history. Traditionally, the second race has been held in September.
Raceway President Lori Collier Waran says ticket sales are going in the right direction. She believes the earlier race will allow more families to attend. The September race fell after school had started in most, if not all, places.
Waran just became Raceway President last month, replacing Dennis Bickmeier, who moved to a job with Henrico County. Waran says she is not implementing any changes for this race, and is letting staff handle everything. She is touring other tracks after this weekend to see what can be implemented in Richmond.
