Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A judge has postponed a decision on whether to undo President-elect Donald Trump’s conviction in his so-called hush money case because of a Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity.

New York Judge Juan Merchan was set to release his ruling Tuesday, Nov. 11, but he told Trump’s lawyers Tuesday that he will delay the ruling until Nov. 19.

Trump lawyer Emil Bove asked for the delay over the weekend. Bove contended that putting the case on hold and then dismissing the charges altogether is “necessary to avoid unconstitutional impediments to President Trump’s ability to govern.”

Prosecutors agreed to the delay.

The case centers on how Trump accounted for reimbursing his personal attorney for a $130,000 payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels in 2016. The payout was to buy her silence about claims that she had sex with Trump.

The Supreme Court has since ruled that ex-presidents can’t be prosecuted for actions they took in the course of running the country.
