Washington, DC (Newsradiowrva.com) -- Senator Tim Kaine has called on Senator Tommy Tuberville to end of the block on military promotions.
Kaine pointed especially to the US Marine Corps, who -- with the retirement of General David Berger on Monday -- are without a commandant for the first time in 164 years. He said that "just because a prerogative can be exercised doesn't mean it should be exercised," and that neither the Marine Corps or any of the other military promotion candidates deserve this disruption.
Kaine also took the opportunity to highlight NATO's continued relevance on the world stage, saying that "we have demonstrated, through American leadership, the strength of alliances-that democracies in the world can link arms... and promote democracy throughout the world."
