Washington, D.C., (Newsradiowrva.com) -- Senator Tim Kaine used time during a meeting of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to call allegations that the CDC reversal on masks was political "ridiculous." Kaine's comments were directed at Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R), who said the only thing that had changed was the politics, not the virus situation.

Kaine, a Democrat, says Senators should not be undermining the nation's health agencies. He says the CDC isn't perfect but is trying to keep Americans safe. Kaine says Texas' own Health Services Department has recommended masks because of the Covid Delta variant.

The CDC recommended Tuesday that people wear masks, regardless of vaccination status, in areas of substantial transmission. Locally, that would include Hanover and Chesterfield.
