Nelson County, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - State Police divers have recovered the fourth and last body from an SUV that was submerged trying to cross the swollen Rockfish River in Nelson County back in late December.
The State Police's Search and Recovery Team returned every week since the incident occurred. The initial incident happened around December 27th, though that's when the SUV was found submerged in the river, when a Toyota 4Runner was whisked away by the current of the river.
Three of the other people in the SUV have been recovered and those bodies have been positively identified. The body found Friday morning is now at the Medical Examiner's Office for examination and positive ID.
State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says searching at that river has been a huge challenge. Geller adds that they're still not sure the exact date that the SUV tried to cross the river.
