Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Maggie L Walker Governor's School's Robotics Team, the Mech Tech Dragons, are looking for some help. The team is headed to the World Championships in Houston this week, but because of some issues, they need help bringing down the costs.
Coach Mark Sailer says the team's original bus provider had to pull out, leading to a frantic search for transportation. They did find another bus, but the costs have now gone up. Sailer says they were originally hoping to keep the costs to around $1,500 a student.
The team leaves Tuesday for Houston. Sailer says the students do everything, from building the robot to fundraising. The team qualified for Houston by winning a regional competition in Fairfax, which also cost money.
