Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Police have arrested a man after he allegedly assaulted several passengers on a Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC) bus Tuesday night.

At 10:48 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, RPD officers were called to the intersection of East Broad Street and North 5th Street for a report of a disorderly man on a GRTC bus.

When officers arrived, they were told by the bus driver that a man assaulted several passengers on the bus and was being disorderly. The man reportedly refused to leave the bus. Police said the man also lit his personal item on fire; it was extinguished shortly after.

Officers spoke to the man and identified him as 52-year-old Nathan Ellis, Sr., of Sandston. Ellis was arrested and has been charged with disorderly conduct and threatening to burn transportation.

No injuries were reported, as the passengers who were allegedly assaulted had left the area before officers arrived, according to police.
