Fairfax, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -- A man attacked the office of Gerry Connolly this morning with a metal baseball bat, injuring two.
The man reportedly entered the office with the bat just before 11 AM, allegedly asking for Congressman Connolly before attacking two staffers. The suspect is now in custody, and both staffers are being treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital. CNN reports that one of them, a senior staffer, was hit in the head, and the other -- an intern on her first day on the job -- was hit in the side.
Fairfax City Police say that, while there's a great deal still unknown about the incident, they're confident that the man was a constituent of Connolly's. In a statement, Connolly condemned the attack and praised his staff, calling them "the best team in congress."
