Chesterfield County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A man has been taken into custody in Maryland and is facing charges in connection to the assault of a woman at Richmond National Battlefield Park near the end of April.
According to Chesterfield County Police, a woman who was walking her dogs at around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 28 was approached by a man who tried to speak to her. When she did not respond, the man got angry and began assaulting her. He fled the scene after she screamed for help.
On Wednesday, May 8, police arrested 43-year-old Horace Stephenson III, of Alexandria, Virginia, for the charges of strangulation, robbery, illegal use of tear gas or other gases, assault and battery, hate crime and obstruction from summoning 911.
Stephenson remains in custody in Howard County, Maryland, pending extradition to Chesterfield County.
