Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com)- Parents and teachers, looking to keep mask mandates in place, made what is likely their final stand Friday in the House Education Committee. Testimony in Committee was overwhelming against passing a bill that would extend optional masks Commonwealth-wide, but the Republican-controlled committee advanced the bill to the full House of Delegates.

The bill has already passed the Senate. Several parents said allowing the option will force them to chose between in-person schooling for their kids, and their children's lives. Supporters have long argued it is an issue of parental rights. Several teachers also said it will lead to mass resignation of staff.

The House is expected to pass the bill and Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) is expected to do what he can to fast track it into law.
