Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The bill that would make masks in school optional Commonwealth-wide is now in the Governor's hands. The House of Delegates, on a party-line vote, passed the bill just days after the Senate had done the same.

House Democrats made multiple attempts to try and change the bill, saying the mask decision should belong with local leaders, rather than the Commonwealth. However, the majority Republicans won out.

Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) is expected to fast track the bill. The move would require additional votes by both the House and Senate. The move would allow the law to take effect prior to July 1st.
